What is a direct care worker?
A Direct Care Worker (DCW) provides non-medical services such as personal care (hygiene, grooming and helping with elimination needs), light housekeeping, nutrition assistance, and physical support and assistance as necessary.
How do I become a direct care worker?
CGTI’s Direct Care Worker class is approximately 24 in-person training hours and includes classroom lecture and skills lab training. Successfully completing our State-Approved Training and Testing Program qualifies you to become a DCW in as little as three days!
Where do direct care workers work?
DCWs work primarily in private residences.
What does the course cost?
Direct Care Worker course cost: $250
Your admission checklist:
- No previous healthcare experience is required.
- A GED or high school diploma are not required to enroll.
- Students are required to pass our entrance exam that tests for English comprehension and math skills.
- You must be at least 16 years old to enroll.
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Pass a criminal background check and obtain a fingerprint clearance card.
- Provide a state issued photo ID, social security card and proof of legal residency.
