What is a caregiver?

Certified Caregivers provide personal care and other tasks that make sure patients are well-cared for and comfortable.

Where do caregivers work?

Caregivers typically work in assisted living and retirement communities or people’s homes where non-medical care is needed.

How do I become a caregiver?

The Caregiver class is 62 in-person training hours and includes classroom lecture and skills lab training. This class prepares you to take the Arizona state exam and become a Certified Caregiver. It is accredited by the Nursing Care Institution Board (NCIA). Be prepared to take the exam in as little as three weeks!

What does the course cost?

Caregiver course cost: $700
Included in the cost is tuition, admin fee ($150, nonrefundable), textbook and CGTI manuals, lab supplies, and one Certified Caregiver state exam. Students are required to obtain at their cost closed-toed shoes, a set of scrubs, and a watch with a second hand.

Your admission checklist:

  • No previous healthcare experience is required.
  • A GED or high school diploma are not required to enroll.
  • Students are required to pass our entrance exam that tests for English comprehension and math skills.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to enroll.
  • Pass a criminal background check and obtain a fingerprint clearance card.
  • Provide a state issued photo ID, social security card and proof of legal residency.
